Coloring books and crayons are a stable in childhood. To this day I still love the smell of a brand new fresh pack of crayons. Adult coloring has become more and more popular over the recent years. While coloring, in general, is fun, adults don't always want to color cartoon characters.
There are many benefits to adult coloring books.
I have a large collection of coloring books and coloring mediums. Some adult coloring books have very detailed designs with intricate lines to color in. The designs tend to blend together and it was hard to make out what I was coloring without eye strain. The “Today I Chose Joy” Thaneeya McArdle coloring books are easier to use.
The designs are easy to see, and a lot of fun. I was able to combine my love for all of my coloring medium choices. I like a variety and mix it up. My favorite medium of choice is gel pens and markers. Those can easily be used on the pages of this coloring book. I love that the pages do no bleed through to the back no matter what medium you use. I definitely plan to purchase more of Thaneeya McArdle's coloring books.
I mentioned that adult coloring books have many benefits, and this is true. Did you know the simple act of coloring can reduce stress in people that have anxiety? When I make the time to sit and relax on the couch with my coloring supplies, my husband can actually see my body relax and I calm down.
Adult coloring is also great for a pain relief when you suffer from a chronic illness such as Fibromyalgia. The reason is simple. You are changing your mind's focus. By concentrating and focusing on the pattern you are coloring, you are changing what your mind is concentrating on.
I have not made the time to indulge in my adult coloring recently and I really need to get back into it. It's a great activity to do at night while relaxing watching television. I have a drawer of about 10 different coloring books and a bin full of colored pencils, markers, and gel pens in which to color with.
Do you enjoy adult coloring? What are some of your favorite adult coloring books?
