When we think of data management or data entry we think of it in a business sense. While this is true, did you know you can also use it to organize your life and home?

Data management is a great way to organize all of your records for either business or personal life. I use data management for both my blogging and for my household. You can either do this on your own, or you can use a master data management software.

Business wise it makes complete sense for data management. You have to keep track of all sorts of information for your business. All businesses have expenses and you need to keep track of those for tax purposes. You also need to keep track of your income for tax purposes. You can also keep track of all of your customer service reports.

Data management can be used to keep your household organized as well.

  • Household Budget

I use a spreadsheet for the household budget. I keep track of every single penny I spend. Unexpected bank fees are not enjoyable so I always know how much money I have at any given time.

  • Utility Bills

I also keep track of all of my utility bills and how much the bill is, when I pay it, and a copy of the bill. Sometimes payments get lost, or there is an error in filing paperwork at the utility company. Having your own backup of what you paid and when helps to correct any error quickly and without a lot of stress on your part.

  • Grocery Coupons

There are apps that you can use to help you keep your coupons organized to know what you have when they expire etc. I'm too cheap to purchase them though. I created a spreadsheet I can open on my phone to do it myself. Now when I'm at the store, I can see at a moments notice what coupons I have. I also carry my coupons with me in my purse at all times for those unadvertised sale prices.

  • Pay Stubs

Just like in a business, you need to keep track of your own records for personal taxes. Having a master data management system in place makes tax time so much easier.
