Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. They are written in such a way that you wonder if it's not based on actual events. It really is like taking a trip back in time.

Historical fiction reads like a true story because the author will often take something that happened in history and add on to it and make the story their own. I think this shows the amazing talent the author has to be able to spin a fictional story from a single fact.
