I'm not much of a home decorator, but I love watching the home improvement shows on television. I'm always in awe of how they can decorate a home so quickly. However, their budget is out of this world! You don't have to spend a lot of money to decorate your home. Here are some tips on decorating on a dime.
5 Ways to implement interior design to your home on a budget
Adding a fresh coat of paint is a great way to freshen up any room. You can find paint on sale most of the time at your favorite home improvement store. My husband swears by Sherman Williams paint from his construction days but, there are many on the market. You can either pick one color for the entire interior of your home, or you can mix it up and make each room or section a different color.
2. Secondhand stores
Secondhand stores are a great place to buy furniture or accessories for your home. Depending on the secondhand store you go to, the money you spend can also go towards charity. That's a win-win in my book. I love browsing a good secondhand store. I never know what I'm going to find next.
3.Sales and coupons
Ah yes, sales. We all love a good bargain. Stores tend to put things on sale for the week starting on Sundays. This is also when they put out coupons for the week. You may have to be patient if there is something, in particular, you have your eye on. Waiting until something is on sale or you have a coupon is a great way to not have to pay full price for things. Don't forget about online stores as well. From time to time online stores will offer sales and free shipping. Shopping online is a great way to find deals on wall hangings and decor.
4. Mix and Match or just Mix
Not everything in life has to match. Frankly, matching is boring. Maybe you find a sofa you love, but a chair from another collection. It's ok to use both. The great thing about interior decorating is you can embrace your uniqueness and your varying tastes. When you mix and match items, you are creating a fun unique style that is all your own.
5. Reuse things in your home
This is by far the easiest form of interior decorating. When I created my home office, I did just that. My office is my daughter's old bedroom. For storage, I'm simply using her old pink bedroom furniture. My desk is an old desk that my husband cut in half and it's now an L shaped desk against the wall. It's perfect!
If you have the budget, you can also hire a professional to help with your interior decorating. Who do you hire? There are actual professional interior decorators. You can also hire an architect depending on your plans such as Brian Setencich.
