Memoir and autobiography books are a great way to learn about someone (usually a celebrity) or the struggles someone has gone through in their life. A memoir used to be written by someone else about a person, while an autobiography is written by the person the book is about. Now, the terms are interchangeable.

Every Monday I post a new genre from the Goodreads 2017 Choice Awards. Make sure you check out the previous genres I've shared.

You can learn so much from someone's memoir or autobiography.

Sometimes you'll find a book that the topic just grabs you, or you sometimes the summary explains that they went through something similar that you did and that's how you connect.

I happen to enjoy this genre a lot and have 10 different books I want to read from the list above:

  • Happiness: The Crooked Little Road to Semi-Ever After by Heather Harpham
  • Preist Daddy: A Memoir by Patricia Lockwood
  • The Face of a Body by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich
  • The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince by Mayte Garcia
  • The Polygasmist's Daughter by Anna LeBaron
  • Voice Lessons: A Sisters Story by Cara Mentzel
  • How Dare the Sun Rise: Memoirs of a War Child by Sandra Uwiringiyimana
  • How to Murder Your Life by Cat Marnell
  • When We Rise: My Life in the Movement by Cleve Jones
  • You Don't Have to Say You Love Me by Sherman Alexie

I have already read My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward by Mark Lukach. My experiences of having a spouse in the behavioral health (a polite way of saying Psych Ward) is vastly different than Mark's. Things like visitation, family counseling and the facility having outdoor privileges for the patient. It was a good read though.

Which of these memoir & autobiography books do you want to read?
