Women-owned businesses are on the rise because families need two incomes to survive. Women are starting to create their own businesses from home more.women owned businesses

In our society, most families need two incomes to make ends meet. Some families have the luxury of both parents having a corporate job. Sometimes families need to get creative due to childcare. Childcare can be expensive and take a large portion of the additional income that is vastly needed for the family. The alternative? Women are starting to create their own businesses.

There are different types of women own businesses that can be done from home.

These types of businesses are the most ideal because they can still be home with the children. They take more time to plan and organize as well though. It can be rough to create/run a business while raising children in the home at the same time. It takes a lot of planning, compromise, and flexibility.

Here are six types of home women-owned businesses from home.

  • Blogging

Blogging is becoming more and more popular as a stay at home career. The downside of this is, that is literally can take years to see the growth and income you desire. Many women give up blogging because of this. Obviously, I'm a blogger. I love working directly with companies to promote their products and services. I also enjoy connecting with my readers on a personal basis. It is a lot of hard work and dedication. It's not a get rich quick fix.

  • Freelance

Freelance writing is another way to make money from home. There are different types of freelance writing. You can write for big companies or other bloggers. I have a friend that has a business that teaches other people how to be a freelance writer.

  • Virtual Assistance

Virtual assistance or being a VA is also popular. What is that exactly? You mostly see this type of business for other small businesses. It's like a small business within a small business. In my line of work, I see VA work with bloggers. Bigger bloggers are very busy creating new content, and working with companies on big campaigns. They don't have the time to properly promote their blog posts because it takes time. They will hire a VA to do those tasks for them, or even answer their tons of emails they get daily. It's a virtual assistant because both parties are working together and communicating online.

  • Medical Transcript

There are courses you can take online to learn how to do medical transcription for doctors. I took a course in medical transcription while I was studying to be a medical assistant in my 20s.

  • Life Coach

Life coaches are another type of women-owned business. They help you get your life organized and on track. I don't know much about them but I do know they are very popular online as a women-owned business.

  • Graphic Designs

Graphic designing is needed for any type of business, big or small. Think of all the logos and advertisements we see for brick and mortar companies. Those ads are created by graphic designers. Miss Bongo is such a type of company. Meredith Stevens, the owner of Miss Bongo did a great interview on being an entrepreneur and how her business runs.

Women-owned businesses I feel will continue to climb. It's a great way to be able to provide for your family financially but also be able to stay at home and raise your family.

What is your favorite women-owned business?
